Kyra
She’s apparently got diabetes. She’s been losing a lot of weight and having some digestive problems, so we took her in for bloodwork. They said she needs special food and insulin shots twice a day, which will run between $90 to $150 per month, on top of the $300 initial glucose calibration. I don’t know what to do. We don’t have the money. But then again, she’s our Kyra. I am at a loss.

Quiet Time
I just found out I’m going to get a weekend to myself here in a few weeks! Ryan is going to Seattle at the same time Ian is going to see his Mimi and Pops. I am probably just going to sleep and watch girly movies, but it will be nice to have some quiet time. As much as I love my family, I do miss time alone.
Pumpkin Carving- Without the mess
Fun for the kids….or those of us who haven’t grown up yet. I LOVE THIS! http://www.cubpack81.com/images/carve_pumpkin.swf
I hope this dog gets reincarnated- we need him
What separates us from animals? Certainly not our ability for compassion or courage.
ELKHART LAKE, Wisconsin (AP) — After a disabled woman’s cat started a house fire, her specially trained dog came to the rescue, then died trying unsuccessfully to rescue the cat.

Queen of Night
I’m sitting here looking at about a dozen gorgeous burgundy lilies that Ryan brought me tonight. They are called “Queen of Night” lilies, according to the tag anyway. You know, he started bringing home a rose every time he went to Central Market about a year ago, but now he has branched out into bouquets. I am such a lucky girl.
Looking Ahead
I’m getting excited about Fall. I’m starting to feel optimistic about the future, which my doctor would say is a very good sign.
Things I’m looking forward to:
- Sweaters
- Getting dolled up in my goth stuff for Halloween
- Taking my family to Sprint’s open house next week
- My 1 year anniversary of not smoking is the 23rd, and we’re going to Outback. We used to avoid that restaurant even though it’s my favorite becuase they won’t let you smoke in the dining area.
- Boo at the Zoo on the 28th
- Seeing Ian dressed up as a bat for Halloween
- Wearing some of the kick-ass clothes I have in the too small section of my closet as I continue to lose weight
- I’m dying my hair redder this month in preparation for burgundy next month. Yes, burgundy! I found a great wine color that I am totally looking forward to making people at work slightly uncomfortable with.
- Seeing if I can pull off an A in Marketing (It’s going to be a challenge)
- Watching Memoirs of Geisha on DVD this weekend
- The time is changing soon!
- Seeing who visits my dreams tonight. It’s been a full cast lately.
Dark Places
Why are there sickos in the world? Why do I have to check, double check and triple check to make sure my gorgeous black cat doesn’t get outside this month for fear that someone might skin him alive in some sort of Satanic ritual? Why do I have to make sure that none of my online pictures contain any identifying details that would allow pedophiles to track down my beautiful son? Why would someone come into a school and start shooting at innocent children? Sometimes life makes me angry, and sad. Today is one of those days.
Lazy Day

My cat Sasha, who incidentally looks nothing like this, just tore my hand to shreds because I wouldn’t stop playing with her toes. I don’t know what she expects when they are so pink and soft and adorable.
Anyway, it’s been a lazy day. I have several things I want to write about ranging from reasons why I love Ryan to reasons why I want to be a vegetarian to my frustration with my weight loss progress. But instead I’m just going to drink my wine cooler, post this cute little kitten picture and wait for Ryan to finish doing dishes so we can watch a movie.
